Abstract

Abstract This community service activity aims to provide training to tobacco farmers in Pedan District, Klaten Regency, on how to utilize tobacco stalks as raw materials for making botanical pesticides. Tobacco stalk waste, which has not been optimally utilized, contains active compounds such as nicotine, which are effective as natural insecticides. The activity was carried out through a participatory and educational approach, including counseling, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. The results show that farmers were able to understand and independently practice the stages of botanical pesticide production, with a high level of participation and enthusiasm. Survey results also indicate that more than 85% of participants understood the material and are ready to apply it on their own land. The use of tobacco stalks is considered to have high sustainability potential because the raw material is easily available and the production process is simple. To support the program's sustainability, it is recommended to form farmer working groups and receive support from village governments as well as agricultural extension workers. This activity is expected to be a concrete step toward promoting more environmentally friendly and economically self- sufficient agriculture.
